Don't Just Say You're A Member.....Be A Member!

Greetings Everyone,

I am very excited and honored to be the President of our State Association!  Together, all of us will be a part of the changes I hope to be seeing.

I have heard many times from fellow dental assistants... "Oh yeah, I am a member of that." But take a minute and really think about that sentence. What exactly does it mean? What does being a member mean to you? What can you as a member do for your Association? What can your Association do for you, the member? What was the reason you became a member?

Being a member of the MnDAA makes you an integral part of the Association. Your input, thoughts and ideas are always welcome, appreciated and encouraged. No voice is too small.

Like my motto above says, we need to be a Member! And here is how we can do this:

Be a Member--take advantage of all our Association has to offer:
  1. Continuing Education--on the Local, State and National level. You never know when you might learn something new, enhance what you already know and meet new people!
  2. Camaraderie with other dental assistants.
  3. Career opportunities--looking to hire or be hired. It's not what you know but who you know.
  4. For more benefits and information go to

Be a Member--Get Involved:

  1. Attend Local Society meetings.
  2. Attend MnDAA Board Meetings.
  3. Attend MnDAA Annual Session
  4. Help at our booth at the Star of the North.
  5. Be on a committee, local and/or state level.
  6. Attend Board of Dentistry meetings--to keep up on what is happening with expanded functions and being a part of making new expanded functions happen, as well as much more information.

Be a Member...Volunteer:

  1. Give Kids a Smile Day.
  2. Minnesota Mission of Mercy (MnMOM)
  3. Give a presentation about dental assisting to the dental assisting students.
  4. Share with others the benefits of being an ADAA member.

In my term as President I would like to do the following and I will need your help to work to accomplish this:

  1. Increase student involvement--they are our successors who can and will continue to be the voice of Minnesota Dental Assistants.
  2. Membership--we need to work together to increase our membership and to encourage and mentor our current members. I challenge you to step out of your box and bring in a new member, volunteer on a committee and Be a Member of your Association.
  3. Local Societies--Yes you are a part of MnDAA and together we are a team and together we can/will work to do what we need to do to grow our membership, involve the student dental assistants and become the best team that we can be.

I am excited for this new adventure and very happy to have you along with me!!

Thank you,
